First One Legal

Yesterday we celebrated with our oldest son as he turned 21. I say our son, even though technically he's not related to me. When DH and I married 12 years ago, he brought one child with him and I brought two. The boys are just 6 weeks apart in age, though they couldn't be farther apart in personality. Anyway, I tried hard to keep myself separate from this oldest boy, who I'll designate T-Dog. After all, he had a mother, and I was just the substitute when he was with us. He was about this big when I met him. He and our other Collegeboy had some good times and, although they were never best friends, I think I can safely say that they have genuine affection for each other. They played soccer together; they played baseball, they played basketball stars. T-Dog, a former only child, enjoyed playing with his new brother and little sister, The Princess. First Day of School for the Last Time

Today the Princess started her Senior year of high school. I've been looking forward to this day, but now that it's here, I know it will be but a blink of an eye before we're seeing her off to college. Her friend from up the street arrived to go with her this morning and announced that it had been exactly 13 years since they'd walked to the first day of kindergarten together. How can that much time have passed? Here are the Princess and her two College Boy brothers on their first day of school in 1996. A fine looking crew, I'd say. This photo was taken last Saturday, right after College Boy #2 got a new car. (Can't seem to get all three together in one spot any more!) They've changed a little bit. I couldn't find a kindergarten photo including the friend from up the street, so here's one of the two girls around the same age. They were quite the little soccer players!
